Blessed to be a blessing

I’m slowly working my way through the rest of Genesis. Got stumped in chapter 38 with some articles but I’m pushing forward through chapter 39 now. It’s the story of Joseph’s arrival in Egypt.

And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.

Genesis 39:3

God had given Joseph dreams that he would become a ruler. The dreamer finds himself in the house of Pharoah’s captain of the guards — a slave. His jealous brothers had sold him down the line and he ended up here. It wouldn’t seem that being a slave would fulfill those dreams. But God was with him and made him successful in ALL he did. So much so that even his master took note.

We should find ourselves in this story. Maybe things don’t look like what you expected. Your career became a job, that dream house became ramshackled after that storm blew through, those promising kids decided to leave everything you’d taught them behind and find their own way and that was anywhere away from you. And where did all the money go? Oh, yeah, the house, the car, food on the table.

That’s where Joseph was–he went from being his daddy’s favorite to being a slave in a foreign country. He went from big dreams to a pit.

But God saw him and heard him.

He sees you and hears you. And he provides everything you need to succeed. And because we are loved by Him and seen by Him, others will take notice who maybe don’t know God personally.

There are several instances of people who did not know God seeing the hand of God on someone else. It was no biggie back then. It shouldn’t be a biggie now.

And this, God’s favoring His kids, should be a normal, natural, everyday occurring thing for God’s kids. His favor. Because we put our trust in Him.

Lord, order our steps so that we stay in Your will. Thank You that You see us and cause our hands to prosper. May others we come in contact with be blessed because we are blessed.

Blessed to be a blessing.
